Traveling and moving to a new city can be difficult! Where to go, what to eat, what do, and what to see are always top questions on every traveler’s mind. PocketPlate is a location-based check-in game around the city of Austin aimed towards newcomers to the Austin community. Our application ensures that visitors to the city of Austin and newcomers to the city will eat at the best restaurants and see the go-to sites during their time in the amazing city!
PocketPlate has narrowed down the overwhelming Austin restaurant scene into 10-15 iconic must go to restaurants. These restaurants include locations such as Matt’s El Rancho, Gueros Taco Bar, Homeslice, Amy’s Ice Cream, and Texas Chili Parlor. Upon arrival, the user can check into the restaurant using a location-based check-in system. The application will keep track of which restaurants you have already visited. The catch is that in order to check into the restaurant to receive their reward they have to answer a short quiz question. The question may be what is the most popular menu item when was the restaurant started, or what famous chef visited the location. This way the user has to interact with the restaurant and the application. Once the user answers the question correctly, they are able to receive a restaurant recommendation and receive points.
